Description: Very nice Holton 230 (S/N 139-525. 1940?) If you are reading this you probably already know what you are looking at and that this was Holton’s professional offering of alto sax. This horn sounds as such. Beautiful tone. Warm amber Lacquer has a couple nicks here and there but overall very nice. The pictures tell the story. There is a mar (see pictures) near left thumb rest. At first I thought it was a burn but it looks more like a rub out or lacquer thinnner clumsiness. Other than that the horn is in great cosmetic condition and mechanically it performs perfectly. The slightest of dent near the bow ( see pictures), barely visible. Pads are on their last leg. They are still playing now and could possibly be revitalized with a little cleaning but I would just figure on a repad soon. If you would like that done beforehand, contact me about it. Holton made slick cases and this original one is in good condition. Smells good actually. Body, neck and case. No extras. Shipping price is good for lower 48 states. Anyone else please contact me. I’m happy to answer any questions about this item so don’t hesitate to ask. You probably also know these will occasionally come up for sale but not too often and hardly ever in this condition.
