Description: This is a program booklet from the Centennial and Festival Celebration of High Point, North Carolina, which was held July 9-14, 1951 in honor of its 1851 founding. There's a history of the city, interspersed between the many advertisements, a list of scheduled events and and a program and list of cast members from the pageant Then & Now, which was performed nightly at the stadium. Many of the ads include a company history or old photos of the businesses. The booklet also include before and after pictures of city streets and buildings, and pictures of citizens in costume. The 1950's era is reflected in the photos of the city swimming pools. The pool for whites is ,"one of the largest in the South", and the considerably smaller pool is for blacks. The booklet measures 8 by 10 3/4 inches and has 104 pages.. The covers has some minor wear, and the pages are lightly toed with s slight musty odor.
