[cover title] Publication: [Jackson, MI: for the company], nd [ca.1887] Description: Chromolithographed stapled paper wraps. 20 cm. 16 (1) pp. Portrait illustration on front wrap, depiction of the Seven Wonders of the World on rear wrap. Stamp of Erskine & Curtis, Apothecaries, Damariscotta, ME. on front wrap, and [2] pp. ad leaf, on pink paper tipped in before the first page of text, also carrying the Erskine & Curtis stamp, printing testimonials from satisfied customers (most dated 1887). A very good copy. The pamphlet explains the various medicinal ingredients used in Hibbard's syrup, emphasizes that "positively no poisons or opiates" are used, lists the diseases it is designed to cure, and prints testimonials. The final two pages print brief histories of the seven wonders of the world, and suggest that Hibbard's Rheumatic Syrup should take its place as the eighth. OCLC lists three copies, though none with the Maine ad leaf: Univ. of Rochester Med. Ctr; Henry Ford; Univ. of Utah.
