Robert Hall founded the Hall China Company, in East Liverpool, Ohio, in 1903. Robert Hall Jr developed the lead free single fire glaze system about 1911 that eliminated crazing from the finished product. This single fire production was inspired by the Chinese single-fire method that had been lost when the Ming dynasty collapsed (1368-1643). Production of Hall teapots began in 1919 and continued until the pottery closed in 2020. The first Hall teapots, the Gold Decorated Teapot line, were extremely popular. The Hall China company merged with the Homer Laughlin China Company in 2010.
