Description: Santa Barbara, California: Ervanna Bowen Bissell. 1926. First edition, 4to, pp. 62, 27cm. Green quarter cloth with dark green buckram spine and light green papered boards with green lettering on the spine. Rubbed, bumped and a bit toned. Book appears to be bound as a quarto but it is noted that the top edge of each page is uncut. This appear not be an error as there is no text hidden in between. Profusely illustrated with several b/w photos. Ervanna Bowen Bissell was a prominent Botanist and along with her husband, Elmer J. Bissell and Frederic E. Clements, founded the first Botanical garden in the country devoted entirely to native plants. The Santa Barbara Botanical Garden was established in 1926. This publication dives right into its topic with each chapter dedicated to a specific home and its garden.
