Description: George Nelson for Herman Miller Omni Space Storage System drawer / desk unit Dark bronze anodized patinated aluminum with structural plastic drawers Size approx : 31" long ( bay- between 2 support rods) 16.6" wide ( minimum depth from wall when mounted) 6" depth ( drawer and top) Unit has the cutout for the square support rods and attached t nuts for mounting. Units were purchased from an architect firm in Seattle, along with several components for CSS and OMNI systems. These drawer are units are believed to be OEM from Herman Miller although I have never found any others like them. They may be a later edition to the OMNI system or produced by another maker specifically to fit this system. Condition- Very good clean vintage. Very minor scuffs and use wear. Please see my other listings or inquire combined shipping discounts. *More about the Omni System (from George Nelson Foundation): The OMNI shelving system emerged in conjunction with a complete corporate design program for Structural Products Inc. of Charlotte, Michigan, a subsidiary of Aluminum Extrusions. The goal was to find new ways of using the extruded aluminum products made by the company. The shelving system is supported by aluminum rods. These rods are square (with slits on each of 4 side) or round. The various components--storage elements, table panels, and lamps--make the shelf into a kind of all-purpose item for varied situations: living room, study, kitchen, or office. The OMNI shelving system can be seen as a further development of the StrucTube system that Nelson had developed for use in exhibitions and was used at Colonial Williamsburg.
