The trident of Poseidon is the emblem of the 3rd company, specialized in the techniques of setting up in the amphibious field, and especially in the recognition and the conquest of the beaches. The amphibious company includes 5 officers, 23 non-commissioned officers and 123 legionnaires. Before being specialists of the "Zodiac" and the "palmage" the men of the 3rd Company are above all infantry-elite. Unity, like its sisters, breaks down into three combat sections and a support section. For its amphibious activities, its organic elements can be transformed respectively into section of swimmers of recognition, section of engineers in charge of maritime transfer or in landing section. The unit is of course the "pilot company" for the regiment if it is called to perform an amphibious operation. The amphibious training is done in phases and we distinguish two specialties: swimmer of recconaissance, used for the reconnaissances of beaches and pilot-motorist.
