Description: This is an excellent specimen of Calcite (Calcium Carbonate). It is comprised of a plate covered with thousands of scalenohedral, or “Dog Tooth”, Calcite crystals grouped into little fingers. The specimen fluoresces under UV light (sort of a taupe color under SW, as seen in photo #7, and more orange-yellow under LW). This specimen is mounted with removable mineral tack in a 3.25” by 2.4” by .9” acrylic display box. The specimen itself measures 2 inches by 1.75 inches by .4 inches. It weighs .7 ounces, or 22 grams. It is from the Gabbro Quarry, Bad Harzburg, Germany, collected in September 1998. I combine shipping with other purchases or auction wins.
