The guitar was Kirk's first Gibson and one that established his passion for Gibson guitars. Kirk's purchase was inspired by the famous Flying V players he admired at the time and his desire for a fuller sound. Kirk continues to play that original guitar to this day, and has recorded a number of songs including "Kill 'Em All," "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets," ". And Justice for All" and "The Black Album". Kirk's Flying V has earned a reputation as one of the most important guitars in heavy metal. Epiphone, in association with Gibson Custom Shop, is proud to release the Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V, a meticulous recreation of Kirk's original guitar. It features a mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with volute, Grover Rotomatic machine heads with "spade" buttons, and a custom bridge. The electronics are top-notch as well, with Gibson USA calibrated T-type humbucker pickups, ™CTS potentiometer, Orange Drop condensers, Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector toggle switch, and 1/4" output jack. The back of the headstock features the Kirk Hammett logo. Comes with a black hardshell case with red plush interior. The image shown is the manufacturer's image.
