Description: Antique early 19th c. English Staffordshire "Blue Flow" 10" Bowl. The bowl with subtle scalloped edges has the name pattern of "LINNAEUS," attributed to the leading pioneer of botanical systems during the time. A botanical foliage design fills both the inside and outside of this large historical bowl. The bowl measures 10" diameter and stands firmly 4"tall. It weighs 1lb 13 ozs. I do not observe any crazing of the glaze. There is a very minor hairline surface "fracture," and shows very minor traces of oxidation only in a few small spots. No flea bites or chips noted on the bowl. I consider it to be in very good condition for its age. To note: Even though I've spent hours online searching for the pattern under Staffordshire pottery, I could not find 1 source that could verify the pattern. The bowl has all the features of Staffordshire pottery and a maker's mark which looks like "JY," but I'm not sure I'm deciphering the writing correctly. It is signed, Linnaeus, YJ, with a number of 87. I believe this is an early Victorian edition, made prior to 1850. Rare find.
