It is one of the most famous prehistoric carnivores in North America, along with its extinct competitor, the sabre-toothed cat Smilodon Fatalis. The dire wolf lived in the Americas during the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene epochs, from 10,000 to 250,00 yrs ago...it's teeth were larger with greater shearing ability, and it's bite force were the strongest of any known Canis species. Solid, not hollow, made from cold cast resin and weighing in at almost 5 pounds. Hand finished and painted for look and feel of a fossilized skull.
