Description: A shot rang out ... the driver slumped over the wheel ... and suddenly the Land Rover began a three hundred foot dive into the Gambuti Gorge to what should have been certain death for both its passengers. But it wasn't ... Bunduki awoke in a strange country, dressed in a strangely-shaped leopard skin. He has his Bowie knife and his bow and arrows. Around him, he sees a land teeming with wildlife from every continent but there is no sign of civilization. Instinctively, he knows that Dawn is also here, some miles away. Who had saved him? And why had they bothered to transport him to this alien jungle, far away from Africa? And, more important, he had to find his cousin, Dawn.Dawn, has encountered a hunting party from the Mun-Gatah tribe. These scheming people are divided into two factions, one following Dryaka the High Priest, the other affiliated with his rival, Charole, Protectress of the Quagga God (the quagga is a species of zebra). Both groups realize that Dawn's bow is highly advanced and its design would increase their power. Dawn will also make a worthy sacrifice to the God. Bunduki encounters members of the peace-loving Telonga tribe. He also has a run-in with a group of mangani apes. Bunduki learns that the population of this land are strictly controlled by the People-Taker, a slaver sent by the Mun-Gatahs. When he and his retinue visit, the warriors of the Telonga tribe are 'put away' by the Elders to prevent them from fighting. Bunduki must use all his cunning and strength to rescue Dawn from Dryaka and the Mun-Ghuta's.
