"BUD" ANDERSON 10/14/47 - FIRST TO BRAKE THE SOUND BARRIERThis is a historic signed note from Chuck Yeager, one of the greatest aviation heroes of all time, to Gene Kropf ("The Red Baron") providing the address of then Colonel C.E. Anderson. Yeager (dec. Dec-2020) was the first to break the sound barrier on 10/14/47 in his "Glamourous Glennis" Bell X-1 aircraft.Anderson, the last remaining US WWII triple Ace pilot was promoted at age 100 to the honorary rank of Brigadier General in December 2022. Yeager sent this note to Gene Kropf, "The Red Baron." Kropf was public affairs officer of the Western Region of the Federal Aviation Administration, member of Governor Ronald Reagan’s Task Force on Aerospace-Aviation Education, member of FAA, and long time supporter of aviation education and breaking down barriers and obstacles confronting aviation education programs. Kropf served as the president of UAA from 1952-1953, and president of Alpha Eta Rho from 1965-1981.
