A prolific artist, he is known for his harbor scenes, cityscapes, and figures much like these. Oils sells at auctions in Europe and America. Levier was born to a French father and American mother on the Mediterranean island of Corsica in 1920. He studied art and then served in the French military in North Africa in World War II. By 1949 Levier had had his first exhibition, in Lyons, and by 1950, in Los Angeles. He spent time in France and the United States, by the 1960's becoming quite known for his figurative and expressionistic paintings. Levier left behind a huge body of work and his reputation will be assured for years to come. He was known to paint under several pseudonyms like Maurice Verrier. st
