Description: For sale today is the rare and out-of-print (oop) Pantheon Comics graphic novel Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Kim Veitch, published in 2002. This visually beautiful, narratively-intricate, and powerful book by one of the most original, and least recognized, comic artists at work today, cartoonist Kim Deitch introduces us to Teddy Mishkin, the alcoholic, possibly insane, animator for the New York-based Fontaine Fables animation studio, hard at work on the latest 1933 cartoon short for Waldo the Cat, the "star" of Fontaine's stable of animated characters. But little does anyone (except Teddy) realize that Waldo is "real", and that he's Teddy's insidiously helpful assistant! I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does not. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This copy is in surprisingly good to very overall condition, with great/bright inside pages (photo#12 example). Its main flaws consist of/relate to its status as an ex-library book: it has library stickers on its lower spine corner, its back cover, and on the inside first and last cover pages. Otherwise, it has some lighter and primarily external signs of wear. **Photo#3:-Spine edge: A few light scratches near its middle. **Photo#4: -Upper spine corner: Small ding/peel where it meets the front cover with a small indent around it on both covers. **Photo#5: -Lower spine corner: Very light scuffing. **Photo#6: -Front cover top edge: 3 nearby tiny cover dings (photo#10 w/illumination), edge itself has little if any shelf-wear.-Outer corner: Tiny scuff/peel. **Photo#7:-Front cover bottom edge: Light if any shelf-wear.-Outer corner: Small ding/indent around corner, shows as a tiny/light scuff/bend on ~1/2 pages. **Photo#8: -Back cover top edge: 4 nearby tiny cover dings, edge itself has little if any shelf-wear.-Outer corner: Tiny scuff. **Photo#9:-Back cover bottom edge: Light if any shelf-wear.-Outer corner: Small indent around corner with a tiny scuff/peel at the extreme corner, goes thru ~25 pages as a tiny/light bend. **Additionally: Front cover has a light ~1" diagonal scratch/indent near its center, a very light ~5" vertical one near its page edge, and some tiny shelf-scratches/indents around the cover. Back cover possesses 2 small indents/scratches near its page edge's middle, a light ~2" vertical scratch near its bottom edge, and some small scratches around its center. Book has a light vertical flex/curl/bend towards its page edge (photo#11). ~12 pages towards the book's middle have a tiny stain at/around their bottom outer corners. 2 pages towards its middle have a tiny indent/crease adjacent their page edge towards the top outer corner. 1 other page near/at the book's middle has a light but large vertical indent spanning its height, and the spine adhesive is beginning to lose effectiveness at that same page (it is still fully attached). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I both buy to read as well as sell TPBs on here, so I understand how aggravating it is to receive a comic damaged in transit. I always pack books firmly between pieces of cardboard (among other materials/layers) via Gemini Comic mailers or bubble mailers depending on size; usually utilizing boxes for larger lots. If you have any questions or would like any additional photos, feel free to let me know. I'm always happy to combine shipping costs - either message me before completing purchase for a pre-payment price adjustment, or alternatively I can provide a refund afterwards. Thanks, and have a fantastic day!
