Description: This is a collectible novelty telephone (not a toy) made in the shape of a nightclub stage featuring Barbie as a singer, circa 1960. The handset rests on the base, blending in as one of the steps leading up to the stage. The touch tone dial is visible when the handset is removed from its resting place. On the stage is a porcelain Barbie doll and a microphone. This phone is supposed to be able to play a tune and flash the stage lights when the phone rings, if you switch on that option. We did not test this feature. The music and light feature requires three "C" batteries to be installed. The standard telephone features work fine (talk, listen, dial, ring) without batteries. One more thing: the doll has some slight damage to the bottom of one shoe, so you may notice that Barbie appears a bit lopsided in our photos. The broken piece is stuck into the slot near the microphone designed to hold the doll in place. You could probably glue the doll into place if you wished to make this a permanent display piece.
