Infrequent 1975 The Revolution of 1905, or the First Russian Revolution, is a historical event that took place between January 1905 and June 1907 in the Russian Empire. The reason for the start of mass protests under political slogans was "Bloody Sunday" - the execution on January 9 (22), 1905 in St. Petersburg by troops of a peaceful demonstration of workers led by priest Georgy Gapon (96 killed and 333 wounded, of which 34 more died later person), - according to the February report of the Director of the Police Department A. A. Lopukhin to the Minister of Internal Affairs A. G. Bulygin on the events of January 9) During this period, the strike movement assumed a particularly wide scope, unrest and uprisings took place in the army and navy, which resulted in mass demonstrations against the monarchy. The Manifesto of Nicholas II of August 6, 1905 "On the Establishment of the State Duma" established the State Duma as a legislative body under the monarch. However, the unrest did not stop. The result of the speeches was the Manifesto of October 17, 1905, which granted civil liberties on the basis of personal immunity, freedom of conscience, speech, assembly and unions. The Manifesto expanded the powers of the future State Duma: from a legislative body it became a legislative body. The revolution was followed by a reaction: the so-called "Third of June Coup" on June 3 (16), 1907, which was caused by the fact that the result of the elections to the Duma of the second convocation was an even greater strengthening of the role of revolutionary parties. The rules for elections to the State Duma were changed to increase the number of deputies loyal to the monarchy; local authorities did not respect the freedoms declared in the Manifesto of October 17, 1905; the most significant agrarian issue for the majority of the country's population was not resolved. Thus, the social tension that caused the First Russian Revolution was not completely removed, which determined the prerequisites for the subsequent revolutionary uprising in 1917.
