The original painting from which this print was produced was commissioned by a newly minted 880 Captain domiciled at O'Hare in 1968. The 880 was the fastest airliner in the world until surpassed by it's older sidling the Convair 990 which was 10 knots faster. It routinely cruised at mach .89 with the Vmo warning bell going off at .895. (todays airlines typically cruise at Mach .77-.78) The 880 was developed by Convair to the specifications of Howard Hughes the owner of TWA. Hughes lost control of TWA to the New York Bankers. They and Corporate Raider, C. Icahn eventually Looted and destroyed the airline. This print is signed, numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity telling about the print and artist.
