Description: I have been diligently searching and rescuing Native American artifacts (I am Chippewa) for more than 35 years. Fully 95% of my artifacts come from both N. & S. Carolina. From plowed fields to river finds to logging roads to searching on private property, I have saved thousands of Native American artifacts from further destruction. I will not ship overseas. These artifacts each have a vibrant and mysterious story to tell. Each one is not just hand made, they were literally life-saving bits of stone used to feed families. Most of my finds are Atlatl points. The bow and arrow was not introduced into the Americas until about 2,100 years ago. Yet another mystery but the bow and arrow made a paradigm shift in hunting techniques. With the Atlatl, you had to be 10's of feet close to the animal and much more dangerous. With the bow and arrow, you could be 10's of yards from the animal and even up in a tree for greater accuracy and safety. I am glad to share these bits of life-saving history with you. With the advent of plain pottery followed in a few hundred years by fiber reinforced pottery, the soapstone bowls quickly fell out of use. Much lighter, stronger and easier to make, clay pottery was the major paradigm shift in cooking and storage and even burials.
