Description: For sale is an exceptional antique Singer treadle sewing machine in a 5 drawer tiger oak parlor cabinet. All original, the machine is the beautiful Pheasant design which is in remarkable condition with very little wear to the pattern. All mechanisms work smoothly and metal face plate, hand wheel, needle bar, shuttle cover plate, etc...look great. Some scratches to the black finish around the arm at the needle end. Very minor chips to the bed front from normal use but does not detract from the overall look of the machine. The machine lifts up from, and pushes back down into, the cabinet by hidden hinged arms and the motion is smooth. The treadle moves well. The leather belt which connects the treadle to the hand wheel has just been replaced. The original belt is in one of the drawers. The machine's serial number, D1067172, tells us the machine is a Machine Class/Model No. 27, manufactured on May 20, 1909. 50,000 machines were manufactured in this class/model. And now for the cabinet....it is nothing short of gorgeous. Tiger oak, 5 drawers, 9 hinged panels that open to access all moving parts of the machine, all original. A little sun fading to the left side of the cabinet. The back upper panel has a little warping from past water damage and one little piece of the wood has flaked off from same water damage, but there are no water stains. One small ding to the backside cabinet corner. A few dings to the inside of the cabinet lid where the lid has been leaned back onto the machine while in the up position and at one back corner. The lid, when closed, has no blemishes whatsoever. The cabinet is on original caster wheels for easy moving. The beautiful tiger oak cabinet is a stand alone piece of fabulous furniture, suitable for any room, and will elicit OOH AAHs from everyone who sees it.
