Description: We offer for your consideration this antique Hampden pocket watch. This watch is Operational This is an antique 1909 open face Hampden Railroad pocket watch. The watch case measures approximately 58 mm in diameter/ 20 mm in thickness, front to back.The case is a silvertone, most likely a Nickel alloy, very utilitarian, and is in good condition. The case is a "Swing -Out" style with a wide shoulder.The the crystal bezel is a screw set with a coin style grooved border, the crystal is a high shallow domed, with a crisp edge and in good condition. On the inside of the crystal bezel there is a angled trim piece that looks to have, perhaps a gold wash, This angled trim sets off the dial very nicely. (see pictures) The dial of this watch is white porcelain enamel, double sunk, with fine black roman numerals marking the 12 hours. Along the outside the minutes are shown as fine lineticks in a double border, the five minute intervals are marked with small red arabic numerals.There is a hairline crack on the outside raised dial between 1 & 2 o'clock. There are also some fine hairline fractures on the seconds dial (See Pictures)The hour and minute hands are fine, blued steel fancy fleur elise style. The sweep seconds hand has its own sunk dial, and has a small blackdiamond shaped aft end. The sunk seconds dial is marked at 10 second intervals in small arabic numerals.This pocket watch is approximately 132 years old and still ticking.
