Description: Unusual periwinkle blue, nice older color that I was sure was completely opaque until I held it up to the light, and the light comes through like polished jade, diffused but what we would call a "greasy" bead (meaning that some light passes through- see photo). The hanks are an average of 5.5 grams each, measure 8.5" long and are three loops tied together (six strands when laid flat). Estimated age 1920-1940. Handmade with typical irregularities seen in handmade antique seed beads. Threads seem strong enough to hold up, and may have been re-strung as described in the paragraph below. 1.6 mm average and 26 beads per inch. I bought out the remaining stock from my supplier who had shipped over the contents of an old Murano, Italy bead warehouse, where artisans made these beads by hand from the 1800's to 1940. Once I sell this color I won't ever be able to get it again because it is no longer made. These beads are very rare and they are so tiny that they are not sold as modern beads in 12-string hanks, as I have had some buyers question. The stringing and sizing of these hanks was based upon my supplier, who had many of these washed and re-strung by the Native American women who live close to the shop. The shop is closing and I have bought out what remains of these rare and precious beads. In the U.S., shipping is $3.75 regardless of the amount you purchase. If the system charges you more I will refund the difference. Overseas shipping cost is $15.00. I've used tiny antique micro seed beads for 35 years in my restoration of antique purses.
