MY GRANDMOTHER'S COUSIN AS A YOUNG WOMAN WAS A BUYER FOR MARSHALL FIELDS IN CHICAGO AND TRAVELEDABROAD. THIS PITCHER WAS GIFTED TO MY GRANDMOTHER AFTER ONE OF HER TRIPS ca 1920s DATE WHEN THIS PIECE WAS MADE IS UNKNOWN (EARLY 1900s). VERY EARLY ITALIAN PIECES HAD A TIN-OXIDE GLAZE. THIS PIECE SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR SERVING. THIS PITCHER IS HEAVY AND UNMARKED. EARTH TONES OF GREEN, BROWN, GOLD AND CREAM COVERED WITH A CLEAR GLOSSY GLAZE. MEASURES 6-1/2" H * 4-1/2" ACROSS OPENING * 8" FROM LIP TO BACK OF HANDLE * 20" AROUND * 3-1/2" BASE OLD PIECES TEND TO BE HEAVIER, SOLID HANDLES, AND CRAZING THAT IS LESS UNIFORM. PLEASE SEEALL PHOTOS. CRAZING CAN BE SEEN ON ALL SURFACES UNDER GLAZE ON CLOSE OBSERVATION. THE INSIDE IS MOTTLED AND YOU CAN FEEL A FEW IMPERFECTIONS ON INSIDE. THE SAME IMPERFECTIONS CAN BE SEEN IN NEXT TO LAST PHOTO OF THE BASE AND THE LAST PHOTO ON THE LEFT SIDE OF HANDLE. THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. IT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. A NICE PIECE FOR THE COLLECTOR'S DISPLAY. THERE ARE 2 CONCAVE DIVETS EACH 2-1/2" ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PITCHER GIVING IT AN INTERESTING CONTOUR. WILL BE CAREFULLY PACKED AND SENT PRIORITY MAIL.
