Antique Industrial Learning/Art Desk Chautauqua 1923 Bluebird RARE FIND🦄

Description: ANTIQUE 1913 CAHAUTAUGUA INDUSTRIAL ART DESK BY LEWIS E. MYERS & CO. CHILD LEARNING This is an antique folding children's educational desk top and blackboard. It was made by Lewis E. Myers and Company of Valparaiso, IN, called the Chautauqua Industrial Art Desk. The desk top flips open to reveal a chalkboard/blackboard on the underside. The lid acts as a writing surface, and the interior has spaces for pencils and art supplies. It features a paper scroll with a wide range of images with great subject matter including railroad and trains, flags of the world, early electricity, animals, architecture, arithmetic, writing, business forms, penmanship, ornithology, illustrating, telegraphy codes, life of Jesus, and more!! (see some samples in the photos). Please note that there are some minor tears on a couple of corners & discoloration due to its age. The rest of the images are intact with no tears. The whole set folds into a 24x18x3 unit where the blackboard or desk top covers the paper scroll and the desk storage area. The condition of the wooden case shows some scratches (see photos). There is one side knob missing that is used to turn images. Doesn’t affect its use. The "chalkboard" is just a green painted sheet of wood, so any writing with chalk is not as clear as you would expect on a blackboard. Otherwise, it looks to be general and expected antique wear for being over 100 years old. The map of the US on the back is visible with some scratches and some staining (see photo). It is a very cool antique piece that would make a great addition to an elementary classroom or to a child's playroom.
