Boar's head hallmark (1838 onwards)This rattle represents Polichinelle, a character of the comedia dell’arte which was very famous in the 19th century. After 1814, censorship had almost disappeared and the opposing parties, royalist among others represented Napoleon and his political descendants, Jérome-Napoleon Bonaparte as Harlequin and Polichinelle. This rattle is a child's toy but perhaps at the same time a caricature.The whistle is in the extension of the hat.Used condition. Missing Two bells
