Description: This antique extending book rest is a stunning piece. Crafted from English walnut and brass it is 5" in wide that extends from 14 1/2" to 21". Our research points to this piece likely being made in the 1880's in England. There are no makers marks that we could find. It is very nicely constructed and obviously not mass produced. There is felt backing on the bottom and small brass piano type hinges on the side pieces. We have not polished the brass as we would leave that to the collector who purchases it to use the product of their choice. We don't want to harm this lovely piece in any way. All profits from our sales go directly to the Friday Harbor Animal Protection Society, our local animal shelter. Our eBay site consists of all donated goods and is run entirely by volunteers.
