Description: EARLY VOLLRATH MANUFACTURING CO.VINTAGE CAST IRON SKILLETSheboygan, WisconsinNo. 8 This Vollrath cast iron skillet is about 75 years old and has that great light-weight feel of the early American cast iron and a fine, smooth cooking surface. The bottom is marked only with the number 8 with a dash at 3 o'clock and oriented sideways, which is characteristic of the early, unmarked Vollrath cast iron kitchenware. This skillet has a full outside heat ring, a reinforced lip, and a hollowed-out handle with a long reinforced rib on the back. This skillet has been stripped down to bare metal using a collector-approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Then we added three rounds of seasoning with BuzzyWaxx, which is a high-end blend of grape seed oil, canola oil and bees wax that results in an amazing dark finish and a wonderful base seasoning. The result... a beautiful black cooking surface. Ready to use, display and enjoy! This skillet is approximately 11" in diameter over the ears, 10 1/2" diameter at rim, 9" at the base and 15 1/2" long including the handle, and is approximately 2 3/8" deep. It sits flat and has only a very slight wobble. No cracks or repairs (casting flaw under handle can be found on many other Vollrath skillets. Weighs a little under 4 3/4 pounds.
