Description: Circa 19th century Victorian Naturalistic heavy cast iron garden SETTEE / BENCH, - attributed JL Mott or JW Fiske, - Fern & Blackberry pattern, - curving backs and legs, - shaped seats with scroll and flowing lattice motif, - open ferns crested with scrolling blackberry vine and blackberry fruit encased in small diamonds and across bottom / above seats and along bottom of design at lower sides, - ball feet, - old brown over white over black paint. 54” wide at arms, 33” tall, 20” deep. Seat – 48.5w, 13d. Weight – 150 lb. Condition – excellent, solid, old patina wear. 2br - Information about this set is shown in Antique Garden Ornament, by Barbara Israel, pg 173.19th century companies manufacturing this pattern: - JW Fiske Iron Works, NYC (1862-1933). 54w (several unmarked examples in US possibly by Fiske). - JL Mott Iron Works, NYC (1828-1930s). unknown size. - Coalbrookdale, England (1709-1922). Patented this “Fern and Blackberry” pattern in 1855. 1888 catalog shows 41”, 57”, 72” wide models offered with cast iron or wood seats. These sizes are not fitting this set, which is why I am not attributing this to Coalbrookdale. - I have not confirmed width of Fiske and Mott versions via original catalogs (I would appreciate anyone to update me if those sizes are posted in any original catalogs). - John Gray & Co, Uddingston Iron Works, Glasgow, England (1855-1895). produced a version with wood slat seat. 60w. --------------------------------------- - Shipping - Contact me for blanketwrap shipping for shipping quotes.
