A scarce edition, book contains the entire McClintock work on John Franklin plus chapters with plate illustrations from Godrey's work on Grinnell and though the full title page of the piece is given, the entire book does not follow it, though as mentioned, only a few chapters. Book has many plate illustrations though the large map mentioned in the illustration contents is missing. Exterior of the book is clean with rubs and some tatter to the cloth at the outer corners and edges of the coverboards and spine with the exterior hinge of the front cover being cracked though not detached or going through to the inside hinge. Interior of the book shows toning to the pages as well as light to moderate foxing throughout. Front endpaper has a pencil notation and one of the front leaves with publisher's advertisement and announcement has a tatter in the middle of the page, else is well intact. Book's binding is tight and well intact and the book is otherwise complete aside for the aforementioned missing map. Book totals 403 pages, measures approximately 7 1/2 x 5 1/8 x 1 3/8 inches and weighs about 1 1/4 pounds.
