Description: Today we are pleased to offer for sale a lovely antique Victorian oil portrait! This exquisite piece dates from the mid 19th century, and is very finely crafted and detailed. The portrait is executed with oils on board. It was beautifully hand-painted by a talented portraitist artist. The piece depicts a lovely young woman of means, she appears to be in her teens and wears an elegant gray silk gown with blue stripes. Her pale alabaster skin contrasts beautifully with the chiaroscuro background. The sitter has a beautiful face, with rosy cheeks and intriguing blue yes. She has a slight smile, and her shiny brown hair is parted in half and neatly coiffed. She is shown wearing gold cameo earrings. The young lady is no doubt coming of age and is most likely a debutant from a wealthy family. The portrait is housed in a period gilt wood frame with intricate floral detailing in four sections interspersed with plain water-gilded sections - we believe this to be the original frame. This pleasant and charming portrait is in remarkable condition, and will add elegant Victorian style and grace to any collection! The painting will be professionally packaged for safe shipment. The portrait presents well and is in very good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age.
