Description: Antique Probably 19th C Islamic Cairoware Copper & Silver Inlay Coffee Pot, Dallah, VGC A very beautiful small side handled dallah or coffee pot or water pot. Made from copper, with brass handle, it has a wonderful inlaid silver pattern, a swirling interlaced tendrils design. With tinning to copper inside. This is an antique piece, not a modern tourist piece. It’s not my area of expertise but I would think it’s likely to be 19th C, perhaps early 20th C. Middle Eastern, Islamic, not sure from which country, possibly Turkey or Egypt. Looks great on display. This traditional form of brewing coffee (qahwa) or spiced beverages is centuries old, typically made of copper or brass, sometimes decorated with the silver inlay seen here. Found throughout the Middle East and Turkey, with those of silver inlay often referred to as Cairoware for the early works originating in the region now known as Egypt, sometimes also called Mamluk wares. Condition - Very good used antique condition - no chips, visible splits or cracks or issues. No dings to desribe. One small area has been lightly polished so you can see how the silver inlay will look if fully polished. See last photo. Lid fits well, hinge is good, not loose, with original finial.
