Description: A fine 18th century lidded pewter tankard/flagon with ornate engraved stippling of an urn filled with tulips. The appropriate touch marks are present. The lid is engraved with the owners initials and dated 1762 within a laurel wreath. There is another old engraved set of initials on the turned bottom plate. Ignore the later engraved Made in Austria, it was a general requirement of goods imported into the US beginning in the late 19th century. The lid moves freely on its hinge and the flagon is in good condition overall. Typical condition of old pewter with a patinated surface, small bumps/dents/marks, etc. Please see all photos for condition. A wonderful piece to add to your collection!
