That's the reason for its existence, the reason why it joins a long line of America hits compilations -- a list that includes Rhino's excellent 2001 set The Complete Greatest Hits. At 16 tracks, 50th Anniversary: Golden Hits isn't as generous as its Y2K predecessor, but among the excised tracks are some tunes that were new at the time of its 2001 release, so they're not noticed.
