Description: Alastair Sim Autograph BIOGRAPHY ALASTAIR SIM CBE d1976. Scottish character actor who appeared in a string of classic British movies of the 1950s including ; An Inspector Calls (1954) and The Green Man (1956). He is however best known for his famous portrayals of Ebenezer Scrooge in Scrooge (1951) and as Miss Fritton the headmistress in two classic "St Trinians" films. Throughout his career he remained ambivalent about fame and very rarely signed autographs. He died of lung cancer in London aged 75 in 1976.
