Description: “Classic Cajun Culture from Boudreaux to you, mon ami!!” (Boudreaux’s words) Yes, it is indeed. Boudreaux, my “bidness pardner” (again, his words) recently returned from a trip home to south Louisiana with assorted wares and mysteries; this acrylic oil painting among them. “Dat my born place!” he declared excitedly when he unwrapped the yellowed newspaper and revealed the painting in this listing. “I thought you were from near Baton Rouge?” I asked, knowing full well we visited some of his family there during an interesting ‘ride share’ experience once. “Well yeah dis true, but I mean actual born place.” He then proceeded to explain in great detail how the family horse-drawn (or was it a mule?) wagon was not in safe working order, so it was decided to ship expectant mother by mail to “dat big hospital” via the U.S. Mail, the reasoning being she’d get there quicker….Boudreaux had other plans, ungovernable sort that he is… At any rate, this vintage acrylic painting IS of the old Paulina Post Office. Like so many of Boudreaux’s tales, the lines of reality tend to blur…frequently. Measuring 20” x 16”, it is unframed. It is signed “CT Richards” and is undated. Guesstimated age, circa 1970. Shipping is Fast & Free, with a lil Lagniappe thrown in, courtesy of Boudreaux! (No live—or dead—crawfish. Yes, he wanted to do that once. “Coz de shrimp be outta season! Don’ you know dat mon ami??! 🙄) The Chinese say “May you live in interesting times.”Obviously, they never met ‘Dreaux.
