Description: Rare and for fans of more obscure dinosaur and animal collectables - Shreddies cereal promotional figure of Pareiasaurus. In lovely condition - please check the photos to gain an accurate overview before purchasing. Brief history: initially produced as a promotional gift for Wagner Margarine in the late 1950s, there were 20 collectable 'Prehistoric Animals' in the set. Wagner's logo and the German names of the creature were stamped on the bottom panel. Later, Nabisco produced them as promotional gifts in their 'Shreddies' cereal, with English names and no mention of the brand. Although the Shreddies versions are more commonly available than Wagner, they are still difficult to source. The models were mostly copied from the paintings of Zdenek Burian, whose illustrations were published in the book 'Prehistoric Animals' in 1954.
