These beads come from China-Tibet, and were well known in Hymalaya and Mongolia, 18th century or before. "Pema Raka" is the Tibetan name and originates from the sanskrit words "Padma" (meaning Lotus flower) and "Rakta" (meaning red or blood), so the translation sounds like "blood lotus" or "red lotus". Nan hong means "red from south" in chinese.These beads range from orange to deep red in colour, depending on iron's inclusions in chalcedony.
