Since this laptop has a unique hardware setup, I would prefer it goes to someone tech-savvy enough to deal with software issues that may arise based on use case. Notes: This laptop was returned due to customer complaints about thermal throttling in game. The Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU in this beast does get up to 98C, around this point it will thermal throttle. It cannot constantly boost to 5 GHz and stay cool. There are settings to limit the power usage that will help deal with thermal throttling, because the more boost, the more power needed, the more heat generated. No issues with GPU temps from my stress tests. From what was learned, reducing all the wattage options in Armoury Crate down to about 60 watts will help stop the CPU from boosting so high all the time, and eliminate any frame stuttering in game. For content creation this shouldn't be an issue since it wouldn't be boosting for so long. Game settings will also affect this. A laptop 4080 is not the same as a desktop 4080, in terms of airflow, power, and surface area. You will need to tune according to your use case. Additionally, a highly recommended option is to install G-Helper and uninstall Armoury Crate. G-Helper is a small and lightweight Armoury Crate alternative for ASUS laptops, offering almost the same functionality without extra load and unnecessary services. After research and testing, I've been able to reproduce this issue, it sometimes happens during the initial setup after a reset/clean installation from Windows, local and cloud, as well as ASUS cloud from BIOS > ASUS diagnostics. I've tested the memory and storage drive for any issues, I'm not sure what's causing this, but it doesn't seem to happen after the initial Windows setup. I've since ran complete benchmarks and stress tests to make sure the CPU, GPU, memory, and SSD are working as expected. While I ran 3DMark, AIDA64, Cinebench 2024, CrystalDiskMark, Geekbench 6, Heaven, Novabench 5, PCMark, and UserBenchmark, I will only be including a few results here to save some time (see product photos for more).
