Description: This is a rare Seymour Duncan STK-S2n Hot Stack for Strat pickup with a solid maroon cover. It came out of a Fender Brent Mason Telecaster. This pickup works perfectly. It reads 13.3kon my meter with both coils and 6.6k split(top coil only). The date on the sticker on the back shows this was made in 2021. Hookup wires measure approximately 12 inches in length. This pickup is in very good condition. It shows a little bit of wear and signs of use but it still looks very good overall. The plastic cover has a few tiny scratches but they are not easily noticed Comes as shown. No mounting hardware is included. From what little information I have gleaned over the years, these early Seymour Duncan Hot Stacks for Strat came with black, white or maroon covers. And initially, the first batches of Hot Stacks came with the solid maroon covers so this pickup must be one of the earliest examples. Also, the early Hot Stacks were made with white plastic bobbins. These were latter changed to black Here's more info: In case you don’t know the story,Brent Mason had his '68 Tele customized by Nashville luthier Joe Glaser back in the early 80’s.In order to make Brent’s Tele more sonically versatile,Joe installed a Gibson mini humbucker in the neck position, a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack for Strat neck pickup in the middle position and a Seymour Duncan Vintage Stack for Tele in the bridge position.Joe wired the Duncan Stacks to a mini 3 way toggle switch to allow coil tapping ( top coil only for true single coil tone or switch to both coils working together to provide quite hum cancelling tone).Joe also installed a separate volume control to blend the middle pickup with bridge pickup in varying amounts for custom tones that you can’t get from a stock setup. You can find wiring diagrams for Brent’s Tele online. I think the coolest thing about these Hot Stack pickups is the fact that you can wire these to a mini-switch or a push-pull pot to split the coils. This offers the best of both worlds...true single coil snap and sparkle with the top coil only (split) or quiet, noise free Fender tone at the flick of a switch (both coils ). Fender introduced the Brent Mason Signature Telecaster in 2021.It is a faithful reproduction of Brent's famous guitar (see pic). This will be shipped via USPS with insurance. Get it while you can!
