Japanese National Railway was in existence from 1949 until 1987. Its predecessor was Japanese Government Railways (1872-1949), and Successor is Japan Railways Group, this station and track are administered by JR East today. On obverse is Shinkanzen series 0, first bullet train in the world, date 1982. 11. 15 and words Opening of Jōtetsu shinkansen (Jōtetsu shinkansen 上越新幹線).
