Description: You are bidding on one 1974 BMW R90S motorcycle in excellent condition. This bike was in storage since 1985, and was recently recommissioned in 2023. I purchased the bike in June of this year, and completed major service on the bike, including an entire new front brake restoration, and new complete clutch assembly. The front brake had a handlebar mounted master cylinder which was replaced to original specification with a new under tank master cylinder, fresh brake lines, rebuilt calipers, new year specific throttle perch, drilled rotors (not specific to1974 model year, which were solid discs) and brake cable. The clutch was also replaced along with a new pressure plate and diaphragm spring. Main seal looked fine; no leaks. The pressure ring was turned on a lathe to match perfectly with the pressure plate; ensuring perfect engagement of the clutch. Spline lube was performed using Staburags grease. All the fluids have been replaced, and a new rear brake was installed by previous owner. The bike also has a 5 speed transmission with a kickstarter which is unique to this model year. The DelIorto carbs were rebuilt by previous owner, and are properly synched. The bike shifts smoothly, and pulls like a beast. Brakes are solid front and rear, with very good stopping power. Overall condition is excellent; all matching numbers, and no sign of any accidents. The odometer just recently stopped working; I have only been riding this on short test drives after I finished the brakes, and then again after I finished the clutch. I noticed the last time out that the odometer stopped working. The speedometer was already not working when I bought it, but the odometer was working as well as the trip meter until just going out on my last test ride. There’s about 10-15 miles that went unrecorded on the ride home. There’s a discrepancy with the stated mileage on the title; I rushed over to the title company with the previous owner, and we didn’t know the exact mileage, so we took a guess at 27,900. I knew it was 27K something, and figured it would be easy enough to make up the miles on a few rides. Anyway, the speedometer will need service, but all the other gauges work well, including the clock! All numbers match, and the bike is in very good running condition now. There are a number of basic maintenance items that have been done getting the bike into this condition. It’s not concourse, but it’s very original and complete. I think this could become a high end show quality example for someone who wanted to go the whole enchilada! Overall, this is a very nice bike, and will be an excellent addition to any collection. Take the time to get comfortable with this bike; get all the adjustments just how you like them, and take the time to tune it how you like it. It can be the last motorcycle that you’ll ever need or want. Comes with saddlebags, air pump, tool kit, and original owners manual. Being sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. Feel free to ask any questions. Buyer is responsible for all arrangements and costs for shipping; local pickup is no problem. Sale is to be completed within 7 days, and I would like to have the bike shipped within two weeks. I can help get the bike loaded with the shipper; and can work flexibly with the pick up schedule and be present at time of delivery. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
