Description: This is a beautiful guitar, made by Danelectro in late 50's for Sears. The coke bottle headstock and original aluminum nut are in great shape. The poplar neck is worn free of the copper finish on the back from use, with a beautiful crackle happening at the edges. The rosewood fingerboard and low action on the slim C shaped neck make it a pleasure to play. It is set up with new light gauge cobalt strings. The stainless steel bridge with rosewood saddle is adjustable with a simple design and unusual materials that are characteristic of Danelectro guitars. The guitar is semi-hollow with 3/8" masonite top and bottom laminated to a poplar frame giving it an unexpected beautiful tone. In combination with the single lipstick pickup it has a punchy but warm sound with a little twang. It sounds great clean but also has some nice grit on the dirty side. Volume and tone knobs work great and the 3-way switch allows for further tone modification. There are lots of signs of wear from use, documented in the photos above, but nothing that affects the incredible playability. The distinctive vinyl wrap that Danelectro used on the side of their guitars, and lining the pick guard as well, is in unusually good shape for its age. As far as I know all the electronics are original and function perfectly. A previous owner replaced the electronics cover on the back with some old vinyl that adds to the unique nature of this particular instrument. That, and an additional strap button, appear to be the only modifications from the original. This guitar will ship with expert packing, but does not include a case. I have sincerely enjoyed playing this instrument and will be sad to see it go. Happy to answer any questions and send it to a good home.
