Description: 1956 WORLD SERIES GAME 3 Whitey Ford vs Roger Craig Rare Sportsfilms, Inc is the rights owner of this DVD The original TV broadcast of Game 3 of the 1956 World Series, Saturday October 6 at Yankee Stadium, has just been released on a new 2-hour DVD from Rare Sportsfilms, Inc.! The DVD contains all but reel #2 (the second and third innings), and includes the original commercials and complete pre-game and post-game! This fabulous DVD presentation also includes a unique Rare Sportsfilms feature – both TV and radio game play-by-play broadcasts! You can use a menu at the beginning of the DVD to watch the game while listening to either the TV play-by-play with Mel Allen and Vin Scully, or the radio call by Bob Neal and Bob Wolff! Many fans will want to watch the game twice – viewing the TV picture while listening to first the TV audio, and then later watching with the radio audio! You can also bounce back and forth between radio and TV half inning by half inning if you wish, to further compare both historic play-by-play accounts! Only eight baseball game TV broadcasts before 1965 are known to exist in their entirety! All are World Series games and all but three are owned by Rare Sportsfilms. At game time, the Brooklyn Dodgers have a commanding 2-0 game lead as the series scene shifts to the big ballpark in the Bronx. The Yankees have already used eight pitchers in losing the first two games, and must get a good outing from Whitey Ford, who was roughed up in game one in Brooklyn, lasting only three innings! His opponent, Roger Craig, is making his first series appearance since beating the Yanks last year in game #5. Now you can “be there” in front of your old B & W TV set more than 50 years later to watch this historic game! Famed Yankee broadcaster Mel Allen does the TV call into the 5th inning, at which point a very young Vin Scully takes over. In contrast to the first two games, this one is a close game all the way. After the Dodgers again take the lead in the top of the 6th, veteran Enos Slaughter becomes the hero of the day with a big three-run homer, his first for the Yankees all year, since being traded from Kansas City! Randy Jackson pinch hits for Craig in the 7th and Clem Labine pitches good ball for the Brooklyn the rest of the way. Attending is the second largest World Series crowd in New York history – 73,977! This broadcast brings back all the memories of those early televised World Series games and New York baseball as it was played over half a century ago!
