Description: This is for an original August 23 1954 issue of Sports Illustrated which would be just the second issue ever printed of what would become one of Americas longest running sports magazines. This issue has been encapsulated and graded by CGC as 7.5. Maybe with some cleaning and pressing the magazine would grade higher. The big selling point of this issue, like the first issue, is that it came with a foldout containing paper baseball cards. Making this better than the first issue is that this one contains cards of only New York Yankee players. Whitey Ford, Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra are all included, but there is also a black and white card of Mickey Mantle. Since Mickey never appeared on a 1954 Topps card this gives you a great insight as to what his 54 Topps would look like.
