Description: A great 1900 1915 TOBACCO FELT / FLANNEL rare Navajo Navaho Dine Rug ~~ Serape ~~ Wearing Blanket ~~ little treasure. Some of them very much like Pendleton or Beacon Blanket type Camp Blankets. This one measures 9" by 7"I am showing photographs of both sides and is in MINT CONDITION The National Cigar Museum relates that most of these flannel /felt Native American Tobacco Premiums were made between 1910 and 1915 to be inserted into boxes for cigarettes or small cigars. Some were wrapped around the package and other larger ones were premiums redeemed with coupons. Folks were encouraged to make them into quilts or pillows, but in most cases the dyes were not very stable. These Native American Navajo Weavings designs were among the most beautiful. I have included an advertisement from a magzine which is for illustration and NOT A PART OF THIS AUCTION.
