Description: I have for sale one of the 1896 Presidential Campaign satirical pieces circulated to ridicule the democratic proposal for free coinage of silver at 16 to 1. (16 oz of silver to 1 oz of gold). William Jennings Bryan was the Democratic candidate and William McKinley was the Republican candidate. McKinley won the election. This piece is 3 3/8 inches in diameter, made of cast metal. The reverse has four holes in the eagle, from poor casting. The obverse shows the Liberty head in the center with 13 poorly struck stars and the year 1896. The reverse has an eagle in the center. At the rim it reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Next to the eagle it reads 16 TO 1 and NIT. Please see over 950 more collectibles for sale in my EBAY STORE at TE Collectables. (19,354 IRD)
