Description: 1880’s to 1890’s Reverend/Father William Corby. Corby was working at Notre Fame University prior to his enlistment in the US Civil War. Corby served as the chaplain for the Irish Brigade during the war. The Irish Brigade were involved in most of the most important battles of the Clvil War suffering more casualties than almost any other unit. The Irish Brigade was famous for fighting at close range. Their weapons were out of date forcing them to face death just for a chance to get a shot off. The guns the Irish Brigade used were useless except for in close range battle. Corby named his Notre Dame football team after the men of the Irish Brigade. Corby went on to a long career as president of Notre Dame after the war. Tough card. Tough to price. Rare and means a lot to me. A little less than 5 by 7 inch. Stains, tong and wear. Feel free to ask questions.
