Description: The original 1863 hand signed “Two Dollars” Confederate note was engraved by “Keatinge & Ball Columbia SC” and has the hand inscribed serial number “5013” in brown ink. Pictured at right is Judah P. Benjamin. The note was printed on pink paper with a plain back. There were about 200 different people who signed for each treasury official. For the most part they were women, many the wives or daughters of Confederate soldiers who had been killed in action. The note will be shipped in a protective sleeve with a dated, hand signed Letter of Authenticity with a photograph of the currency above. All of the artifacts on our site are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. Please see our "About Collectors Frame”, below the reviews on the front page, for more information on the framing and artifacts.
