Description: For sale is a very cool and very scarce 1861 $5 Confederate Note. Once the Confederate States broke off from the Union they began printing their own currency because they did consider themselves their own new separate nation called the Confederate States of America. What's cool about this note is it is the very first year the Confederate Notes were printed. Another super cool thing about Notes from this era is the signatures on them and the serial numbers were live ink rather than being printed. Very few survived the era because after the Civil War they all were destroyed, so the small quantities that survived are very rare.As you can see from the pics this certificate is in really nice condition, and would be considered high grade. The note's white backgrounds are very vibrant and the live ink are very bold as well. There are very minor and subtle folds to it but there are no major tears or rips or stains.This is a great very rare note to add to any currency collection. Thanks!
