Published in 1843 by Fisher, Son & Co, London. There is a b/w fold-out map of Canada as well as 7 b/w double page plates of Toronto; Kingston - Lake Ontario; Montreal; Quebec; Halifax; St John and Portland; and Fredericton, New Brunswick. James Silk Buckingham (25 August 1786 – 30 June 1855) was a British author, journalist and traveller and later MP for Sheffield. This volume was produced along with a 3-volume set on America (which we also have for sale separately on Ebay) as a result of a 4-year trip around the United States and Canada. Dark brown calf leather on blue marbled hardboards. Gilt bands, blind stamped patterning, dark brown leather title blocks and gilt lettering to the spine. Slight scuffing to the board edges. Boards firm. Foxing to prelims, plate edges and flyleaf and rear endpaper. 540 pages + publisher's catalogue. 22 x 14 cm. Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK.
